Flowers and Butterflies

Hello, I actually added this to my favourites a LOOOOOOONG time ago and completely neglected to comment, but now I fully intend to as I look back through. First off: OH MY GOD!! If I didn't know this was a drawing I'd assume at first glance it was some sort of photo manip; the details are so crisp and varied and this must have taken up much of your time and patience! I remember seeing this photo in the magazine, as it happens, and thinking it was an interesting shot, but the drawing just highlights the intricacies in the styling and composition to even better effect. The subtle use of the bronze shade also brings a new dimension to the piece, veering as it does from the standard monochrome so often seen (not that monochrome is bad, per say, it's just expected). However, the bit I like best isn't in fact the headresses/masks/whatever you wish to dub them, but the eyes -- you make them look so dark and alive in the way they stand out against the softer shading in the rest of the picture and thus they draw my gaze in.

In conclusion, an excellent piece (my comment might appear unbalanced, but then I don't draw and thus lack something of a critical eye in that regard) and I'm definitely resolved to take some time to peruse your other stuff
